With U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission individual charge filings at a record high, Atlanta attorneys are seeing an uptick in employee versus employer lawsuits.
While it is true that discrimination cases are harder to win, there is one exception in the public sector, said Lee Parks, partner at Parks, Chesin & Walbert P.C.
“Employee discrimination suits are on the rise in the public sector,” he said, adding there is a twist. Instead of the regular discrimination cases of the past, these are being brought by Caucasians claiming that the government has a bias toward hiring African-Americans. “Another subset of discrimination law is reverse discrimination cases, and they are becoming more prevalent, especially in the South.”
